Last weekend the girls and I tried dyeing fabric. We had great fun and good results. We used Procion dye, which is very popular and used by others who dye fabric.
First soak the fabric in a solution of sodium carbonate for about an hour. Then wring it out and have fun with the dyes!
We made some with one color and also mixed colors to get others, like red and blue to make green. The girls were very creative with trying stripes.
We also painted some fabric and put rock salt on it to make a pattern.
