First soak the fabric in a solution of sodium carbonate for about an hour. Then wring it out and have fun with the dyes!

We made some with one color and also mixed colors to get others, like red and blue to make green. The girls were very creative with trying stripes.

We also painted some fabric and put rock salt on it to make a pattern.

Not an easy task with the Quilt Run happening this week. It’s fun, lots of people. We have a quilt contest that should prove interesting considering the fabrics we chose.  We do not coordinate them. The big drawing is on Feb. 23. I have a great time driving down to Newport, usually I ride with Doris from Creative Fabrics, and this year with Eda from Custom Threads.

Hoping to get a couple quilts quilted this coming week.

This is “Atlantis” Beuaty. Just calls for batiks I think. The background is only about 5 1/2 - 6 yards. I’ll change the aqua color to a medium blue. Saturday Sampler starts in April.

Our newest cat discovered catnip. I make a little fabric fish and put catnip in it, then use a ribbon and a dowel for a cat toy.  They’re rough and tough.  She grabs it and rubs her face on it. Most active she gets. Belen is hanging the fish inside a laundry basket to tease the cat.  She is confused.

Also cleaned our downstairs bathroom today. Grungy! Tomorrow the floor. Then more sewing–yea!

Here is a quickie Valentine project. Trace your feet, overlap the heels. then applique that onto the background heart.

Hannah came up with this quilt. She designed it in EQ6. It’s made of 4″ squares.

Not much happening. We’re training our nephew Loch to repair machines. He’s picking it up quickly.  He is about 6′ 3″, with long hair (mid-back) so don’t be worried if you see him in the shop.

I made the quilt using beachy fabrics and the quilt as you go Fun and Done technique. The blocks surround the Oregon Coast map. It’s fun and wild. Oh pictures. Available later this week when I have more done.

Let’s see, Vesta finished the top for “Focal Point” a wild quilt believe me, even Hannah said whoo, bright mom. Shoot, no picture yet. But there’s always tomorrow.

My African quilt top is ready to be quilted. Picture of that to come too.

We went up to Mt. Hood again over MLK weekend. Rainy like the coast. Timberline had strong winds too. Remind you of any place?  There’s no place like home.

Little Bianca, Hannah’s pug is now on phenobarb for seizures. She is still not adjusted to the med. Very uncoordinated, hard to jump, we laugh at her a lot.
