Customer T-Shirt Quilt

A customer asked me to make a t-shirt quilt for her husband.

I used a book called ‘How to Make a T0o Cool T-Shirt Quilt” by Andrea Funk. I ordered it from her website: http://www.toocooltshirtquilts.com

The book shows you how to sew the t-shirts together without using stabilizer! Treat the shirts like you would a piece of fabric cut on the bias. I tried not to handle them often and only when I was ready to sew them together.

Here is a picture of the quilt on the longarm.

It turned out great!

Sewing macine Repair!

Spent a fun morning with my dh cleaning sewing machines. I know doesn’t sound fun.

It’s not romantic like a candlelight dinner. But we have a good time talking together. Sometimes it’s the only time we have by ourselves!

This picture is the bobbin area of an Elna. See the black lines on either side of the bobbin case where the bobbin would go? That is thread wrapped around underneath. When we took the case out we discovered that the gear was broken.

Sometimes it’s difficult to diagnose the real problem. We have fun.

New Classes

Got 3 new classes coming up in April: Log Cabin, Bag, and Table Runner.

Log Cabin Blocks arranged many different ways.

Thomas the Train

When Belen was hospitalized (or home) we watched Thomas the Train over and over. Watched the show when Ringo was narrator.

We got some Buggy Barn neutrals, a bunch. They are fun with lots of texture. Thanks for the suggestion Linda!

A great addition! We’ll be using some in our new Saturday Sampler.

Things are going along this year. Although I am a little scatterbrained.

Thor and I leave for the Seattle Gift Show on Saturday. We’ll be looking for ‘quilty’ gifts, like bags and mugs. Pins, charms and cards. You get the idea.

Clothworks Fabrics is based in Seattle so we’re stopping in on Monday to shop a little. It’s where I’ll get my challenge fabric the Quilt Run 101. Evil laugh……

Aebleskiver

Family gathering today in Longview. Thor has been talking about making aebleskiver’s all week. They are a traditional Danish ‘pancake’ shaped like a ball. There are many variations. Some have apple in the middle, that’s what the Sorenson boys remember. We didn’t use apple today. We sprinkled with powered sugar. Yummy

There is a special Aebleshiver pan to use. It kind of looks like a frying pan for deviled eggs. Thor’s dad brought it back from Europe about 1971. It is porcelain cover cast iron. Heavy!

I was the first to make aebleskivers in 20 years. My first batch was okay, but the next were almost round and good to eat. Can’t wait to make more!
