homespun quilt e-news

Dear Quilters and Crafters,

It's really the middle of January? Time flies when you're having fun. I got back Sunday evening after a weekend 'playing' with Libby Lehman. She is the thread queen as far as I'm concerned. Libby wrote Threadplay Mastering Machine Embroidery Techniques. You may have seen her on Simply Quilts or on The Quilt Show. I think Libby may be most known for her ribbon thread painting.

Friday, we learned a new technique. We cut circles of sheer fabrics and interlocked them with a square. On Saturday and Sunday we made a small art quilt using reverse applique, decorative stitches, and thread painting, among other things. Then we had fun with different quilting motifs. I learned many tips and tricks that I can't wait to pass on to you all (like using Press & Seal).

Saturday Sampler
1st Saturday Sampler Month 11 is February 2
New Saturday Sampler starts April 5

April 5th is the start of our new Saturday Sampler of $5 quilt. This year we'll do a technique quilt. Each month will feature a different technique. For example: applique, string piecing, etc. Two color ways are offered–one bright, one not so bright.

The quilt is a technique sampler with some comfortable pieced blocks. There is a celtic knot, stained glass, string, and paper piecing (to name a few), plus more.
